Guarantee & Refund Policy

90-Day Risk-Free Guarantee
You may cancel for any reason within the first 90 calendar days of enrollment and receive a full refund of subscription fees paid, and any remaining commitment obligations are cancelled. No diagnostics, assessments, or platform usage required. This guarantee does not apply to returning Users.
For Short-Term Programs, this 90-day window is replaced by the 21-Day Risk-Free Guarantee described in the Short-Term Programs section below.
Growth Guarantee
We commit to helping your student achieve at least 2X the growth normally expected by NWEA over the applicable period on NWEA MAP Growth assessments in:
Math
Reading
Language Arts*
Science*
* If the student is rostered based on student age and academic requirements.
2X is our promise. 1X is our minimum-growth floor.
Growth is measured using NWEA MAP assessments, which are administered through the Services three times per year: fall, winter, and spring.
For purposes of the Growth Guarantee, your student's Growth Factor is averaged across all applicable subjects tested at both the beginning and end of the applicable Interval.
The Growth Guarantee applies only to enrollments in our standard year-round program. It does not apply to Short-Term Programs, which do not span the full NWEA MAP assessment intervals required to measure growth.
Exception for Students at or Above the 90th Percentile
If your student finishes an Interval at or above the 90th percentile in a subject, that subject is not required to demonstrate at least 1X growth for purposes of the minimum-growth safeguard.
Your student must still satisfy the applicable participation requirements and complete a valid MAP assessment in that subject.
If every applicable tested subject finishes at or above the 90th percentile, the minimum-growth safeguard is not triggered for that Interval.
What Happens If the Growth Guarantee Isn't Met?
Refund
If your student's average Growth Factor across all applicable subjects is less than 1X the growth normally expected by NWEA for the applicable Interval, you may terminate your student's subscription to the Services and request a full refund for the amounts paid for that Interval. Any remaining commitment obligations shall be cancelled.
The refund request must be submitted within 14 calendar days from the time the applicable results are published, or a longer period as may be required by applicable law.
Alternatively, you may choose to remain enrolled without receiving a refund for that Interval.
If your student remains enrolled and their average Growth Factor is below 1X for the next consecutive measured Interval, Alpha Anywhere will terminate the applicable User account and refund the amounts paid for both consecutive Intervals. No separate refund request is required.
Any refund issued under the Growth Guarantee ends the student's enrollment. A User may not receive a Growth Guarantee refund and remain enrolled.
For the purposes of determining a refund, each Interval shall normally be evaluated independently, except where two consecutive measured Intervals are below 1X, in which case the consecutive-low-growth provision above applies.
Additional Details
Enrollment Requirement
Your student must be enrolled for the entire applicable Interval and receive a valid growth score in each eligible subject required to be tested at both assessments bracketing the Interval to qualify for a Growth Guarantee refund.
MAP Testing Eligibility and Participation Requirements
Every active student is offered their first applicable MAP assessment in each eligible subject regardless of completed XP or active study time because this assessment establishes the student's starting point.
For subsequent MAP assessments, your student becomes eligible to test in each subject by satisfying either of the following requirements for that subject during the applicable term:
Completing at least 75% of the required XP for that subject; or
Completing 100% of the expected active study time for that subject.
Expected active study time is 25 active minutes per subject for each scheduled learning day during the applicable term. Only time during which the student is actively engaged in learning counts toward this requirement. Inactive, distracted, away, or unrelated time does not count.
Days on which the student has no available work in a subject, including because no work is assigned or the applicable learning application is unavailable, will not count toward the expected active study-time requirement.
Meeting either the XP requirement or the active study-time requirement is sufficient for the student to take the applicable MAP assessment.
If a student meets neither requirement for a subject, Alpha Anywhere will not administer the MAP assessment for that subject for that testing window, and the subject will be treated as a missed test.
Required Testing
The Growth Guarantee is based on your student's overall academic performance across applicable subjects. Each eligible subject must therefore be tested when the student is eligible to take the applicable MAP assessment.
First-grade students are not eligible for Language Arts or Science MAP assessments. Second-grade students are eligible for those assessments only if their MAP results indicate that they are independent readers.
Missed MAP Assessments
A subject is considered missed if the student does not complete a valid MAP assessment for that subject before the applicable testing window closes.
The first time a student misses a MAP assessment in a subject, Alpha Anywhere will notify the parent or guardian and may flag the missed assessment in the Services.
If the same subject is missed in two consecutive testing windows, Alpha Anywhere will terminate the applicable User's enrollment and refund the amounts paid for the period between those testing windows.
Completing a valid MAP assessment resets the missed-test count for that subject. Missed assessments in different subjects do not combine for purposes of this provision.
A MAP assessment invalidated for academic dishonesty is not considered a valid assessment. If permitted by Alpha Anywhere, the student may retest during the same testing window.
Testing Conditions
Growth guarantees only apply when MAP assessments are administered under proper conditions following NWEA guidelines.
Curriculum Completion
If a User completes all available curriculum through Grade 12 offered within the Services prior to the end of the User's then-current subscription term, the User may terminate the subscription and request a prorated refund for the unused portion of the subscription term remaining after the date of completion.
For purposes of this provision, "completion" means the User has satisfied all Essential Skills and coursework available through Grade 12 within the Services, as determined by Alpha Anywhere. Any remaining commitment obligations shall be cancelled upon such termination.
Coaching
Coaching is included as part of the Alpha Anywhere program for enrolled students. Coaching is intended to support the habits, consistency, and learning practices associated with strong academic growth.
Requests for Refunds
Except where this policy provides for an automatic refund, refund requests must be made no later than 14 days from the time results are published, or such longer period as may be required by applicable law.
Re-enrollment Following a Growth Guarantee Refund
Following a refund under the Growth Guarantee, a student must wait at least six months before re-enrolling in Alpha Anywhere.
If the refund covered a full Annual Interval, the student must wait at least twelve months before re-enrolling.
Less Reward Value
The fair market value of any incentives earned by the User will be deducted from any refunds due.
Reimbursement of ESA Funds
The guarantees described here may not apply to purchases made with Education Savings Account (ESA) funds, depending on your state's laws. Subject to the law in your state, any refunds of public funds will be returned directly to your state's program administrator.
Guarantee Modifications
Alpha Anywhere may update this guarantee upon written notice. Any changes will not affect Users enrolled prior to the date of such notice for the remainder of their then-current subscription term.
Subject Eligibility
The Growth Guarantee applies only to subjects in which the User was rostered at both assessments bracketing the Interval. Subjects added mid-Interval become eligible beginning with the first full Interval in which they appear at both endpoints.
A subject in which the student finishes the Interval at or above the 90th percentile remains subject to the testing and participation requirements described above but is not required to demonstrate at least 1X growth for purposes of the minimum-growth safeguard.
Consecutively Low Growth
If your student's average Growth Factor across all applicable subjects is below 1X for two consecutive measured Intervals, Alpha Anywhere will terminate the applicable User account and refund the amounts paid for both consecutive Intervals, as described above.
Short-Term Programs
Certain Alpha Anywhere offerings are delivered over a limited duration that does not align with our standard year-round subscription or the full NWEA MAP assessment cycle. These offerings, including but not limited to summer programs, seasonal sessions, and other limited-duration enrollments (collectively, "Short-Term Programs"), are subject to the following modifications to this policy:
21-Day Risk-Free Guarantee
In place of the 90-Day Risk-Free Guarantee, you may cancel a Short-Term Program enrollment for any reason within the first 21 calendar days of the program start date and receive a full refund of fees paid; any remaining commitment obligations are cancelled.
No diagnostics, assessments, or platform usage are required. This guarantee does not apply to returning Users.
No Growth Guarantee
The Growth Guarantee and all related growth-based remedies do not apply to Short-Term Programs. No growth-based outcomes are promised for these programs.
All Other Terms Apply
Except as expressly modified above, all other applicable provisions of this Guarantee & Refund Policy, including curriculum-completion refunds, ESA fund handling, reward value deductions, refund-request timing, and guarantee-modification rights, continue to apply to Short-Term Programs.
Conflicts
If anything in this Guarantee & Refund Policy conflicts with our Terms of Use, the terms of this Guarantee & Refund Policy shall control.
Definitions
“Annual Interval” means the period between the same MAP test season across two consecutive years, for example winter to winter or spring to spring.
“Growth Factor” means the ratio between the change in your student's academic performance demonstrated by MAP Growth assessments across an Interval and the growth expected by NWEA for a comparable student over that same Interval. A Growth Factor of 1X represents expected growth; a Growth Factor of 2X represents twice expected growth.
“Interval” means either an Annual Interval or a Term Interval, depending on context.
“MAP (Growth)” means the Measures of Academic Progress assessment administered by NWEA that measures student proficiency and growth in Math, Reading, Language Arts, and Science.
“Expected Growth” means the growth predicted by NWEA for comparable students in the applicable grade level, subject, starting achievement level, and assessment period.
“NWEA” or “Northwest Evaluation Association” means the organization that administers the MAP assessment.
“Essential Skills” means the specific skills assigned to your child which are needed to progress in mastery and growth. These may vary by student and cover Math, Science, Language Arts, and Reading. Some assigned skills are not “essential” but may be assigned to your child to support their specific learning plan and growth outcomes.
“Short-Term Program” means any Alpha Anywhere program offered for a duration shorter than the standard year-round subscription, including but not limited to summer programs, seasonal sessions, intensives, and other limited-duration enrollments. Short-Term Programs are designated as such at the time of enrollment.
“Term Interval” means the period between two consecutive MAP testing seasons, for example fall to winter or winter to spring. Spring to fall is not treated as a Term Interval for purposes of the Growth Guarantee because it crosses the summer period.
“User” means the individual student for whom the learning plan has been created, who is the sole intended recipient of the associated educational Services, and whose academic performance is measured by the MAP Growth assessments referenced herein. All references to "User" throughout this policy refer to the same individual in each instance.
